CoolSavings recommends a word count between 80-150 words for successful campaigns. Generally, one to three short paragraphs is sufficient.
All links must be live 3 days prior to transmission. The links must link to a page that is clearly relevant to the offer. Although design will dictate the number of links, we recommend less than 5, including the “Save Now” button. CoolSavings will format links to make them “trackable” and include unique numbers (REF codes) to aid in identifying which links were clicked on the most. In addition to the actual offer(s), some advertisers prefer to include auxiliary information links to pages containing “Terms of Service”, “Legal Disclaimers” etc. These can be tracked as well.
Where may I link to? You may link to a CoolSavings More Info Page, a CoolSavings Results Page, or an external site. CoolSavings will track your response rate to allow us to provide you with feedback. It is important that the link directs to a page that is clearly relevant to the offer to maximize performance. (i.e. it must be clear to the member how to redeem the offer)
Each e-mail offer should include short text that clearly states the savings offer and benefit. We recommend the brand or company name be included and the length of the text kept to 60 characters (8 words) or less. It is difficult for members to read capitalized words; no more than one capitalized word is suggested in the subject line. We can include a member’s first name in the subject line.
Subject line text should not intentionally mislead or over sensationalize the offer. (i.e., “Your home may have termites!” will not be accepted.) Use of exclamation points (!) are discouraged, and we will not use more than one in a subject line.
All e-mails contain the salutation, "Dear (first name of member),"
The e-mail is always from CoolSavings.
All e-mail replies go to CoolSavings (firstname.lastname@example.org).
CoolSavings HTML e-mails feature a header region with the "Special Savings for You" messaging and CoolSavings logo.
"Save Now" button
CoolSavings members identify with this graphic, as it resembles offer treatment on the CoolSavings Web site. The button appears at bottom of the e-mail below the offer call to action. It is what the consumer should click on in order to redeem the offer.
CoolSavings creative will position the banner logically according to the context of the body copy. It typically links to the same target as the “save now” button.
An e-mail offer should be valid for 7 days after the date of transmission to ensure that Coolsavings members have ample opportunity to take advantage of the offer.
When an e-mail links to an external site, CoolSavings will add a 55 pixel high "frame" to top of the redirect site (the width will be equivalent to the width of the browser window). This frame serves as a way to remind members the nature of the advertiser's offer and can include information such as savings value and coupon codes. The maximum length of frame text is 100 characters.
Our links contain unique household information, and we will not permit forwarded e-mails.
CoolSavings places an unsubscribe message at the bottom of each e-mail and will not accept unsubscribe messages from any client.
Grammatical and Spelling Errors
CoolSavings corrects grammatical and spelling errors in body copy without approval by the client.
